Introduction
If you've read our previous articles on regulations for candle manufacturers, CLP classification, labels or UFI code - you probably have one thought in your head: "That's a lot of paperwork."
And you're right. CLP classification, Safety Data Sheets, thresholds, pictograms, H and P statements, EUH208, UFI, PCN - for someone who just wants to make beautiful candles and sell them, it's overwhelming.
That's why we created the TopWosk Safety Package - a system that takes most of this work off your hands. You buy an essential oil, you get the documentation. No waiting for a chemist. No extra costs.
In this article, we'll explain exactly what you get, how it works, and why it's a game-changer for candle makers in Poland.
1. The problem we solve
Imagine the typical path of a candle manufacturer who wants to sell legally:
- You buy a fragrance oil from a supplier
- You receive the Safety Data Sheet for the oil (not the candle!)
- You look for a chemist to perform the CLP classification for your candle (wax + oil at a given concentration)
- You wait 1-2 weeks
- You pay 200-500 PLN per fragrance
- You receive the classification report and SDS for the candle
- Based on these, you design the CLP label
- If the candle requires UFI - you generate the code and commission a PCN notification (another 300-600 PLN)
For 20 fragrances, that's 4,000 - 10,000 PLN and several weeks of waiting. Before you even sell your first candle.
Now imagine an alternative:
- You buy fragrance oil from TopWosk
- You download the ready-made Safety Data Sheet for the candle at the chosen concentration
- You fill in your company details
- Done
Cost: 0 PLN. Time: 5 minutes.

2. What exactly do you get in the Safety Package?
Element 1: Ready-made Safety Data Sheets for candles in three concentrations
For each fragrance oil in our store, we have prepared SDS for a soy candle (wax + oil) in three concentration variants:
- 6% oil in wax
- 8% oil in wax
- 10% oil in wax
Each SDS is a complete 16-section document in the format required by Regulation (EU) 2020/878. It contains:
- CLP classification of the mixture (wax + oil at a given concentration)
- Full composition with substance classifications
- Toxicological and ecological information
- H and P statements
- Transport information
- All 16 sections completed
You download the PDF, fill in section 1 with your company details (name, address, phone) - and you have a ready document.
Element 2: Classification threshold for each oil
For each oil in the store, we provide a classification threshold - the maximum concentration at which the candle does not require pictograms, UFI or PCN.
This is the lowest threshold for ALL hazard classes (not just sensitization - we also consider environment, irritation, toxicity). You look at one number and you know:
- Below the threshold - no classification or only EUH208. Minimum formalities.
- Above the threshold - pictograms + UFI + PCN. More work, but you have a ready SDS.
This allows you to consciously choose the concentration - not by eye, but based on data.
Element 3: CLP Label Generator
Our CLP Label Generator automatically creates a correct label based on your choice:
- You select a fragrance from a database of 57 oils
- You choose the concentration (6/8/10%)
- You enter company details, weight, batch number
- The generator selects GHS pictograms, H/P statements, and a list of substances
- Adds PN-EN 15494 safety pictograms
- You get a preview of the ready-to-print label
You don't have to check which pictograms, which statements, which substances to list - the generator does it for you.
Element 4: PCN pathway through our partner Chemtra Consulting
If your candle requires a PCN notification (because it exceeds the H317 threshold), you don't have to look for a chemist on the market. We recommend our partner - Chemtra Consulting:
- You contact Chemtra with the SDS from TopWosk
- Chemtra downloads the ready notification file (.i6z) from us
- They perform the PCN notification on your behalf
- You receive confirmation + UFI code
Cost: 125 PLN (instead of 300-600 PLN on the market). Time: 1-2 business days.
Why cheaper? Because we have ready notification files - Chemtra doesn't have to create them from scratch.
3. Cost comparison - traditional path vs. TopWosk
Example: a manufacturer with 20 candle fragrances, selling in Poland.
| Traditionally (external chemist) | With TopWosk | |
|---|---|---|
| CLP classification (20 fragrances) | 20 × 200-500 PLN = 4,000 - 10,000 PLN | 0 PLN (included in the price of the oil) |
| Safety Data Sheets for candles | Included in the classification price or separately | 0 PLN (ready for download) |
| Waiting time | 1-3 weeks | Immediate |
| CLP label | Manually (or another commission) | CLP Label Generator |
| Classification thresholds | You have to ask the chemist to calculate | Provided with each oil |
| PCN notification (if needed) | 300-600 PLN per fragrance | 125 PLN per fragrance (Chemtra) |
| PCN time | 3-14 days | 1-2 business days |
For 20 fragrances, you save 4,000 - 10,000 PLN on classification alone. If 5 of them require PCN, you save an additional 875 - 2,375 PLN. Total savings: 5,000 - 12,000 PLN.
4. How it works in practice - step by step
Step 1: Choose an essential oil in the TopWosk store
You browse our collection of fragrances. For each oil, you see the classification threshold - you know immediately at what concentration your candle will be "clean" and when it requires additional formalities.
Step 2: Download the candle SDS
After purchasing the oil, you download the ready-made Safety Data Sheet for the candle at the chosen concentration (6%, 8% or 10%). PDF file - ready to be filled in with your data.
Step 3: Fill in company details
You open the SDS and in section 1 you enter your company details: name, address, tax ID, phone. This is the only change you need to make. We have prepared the rest for you.
Step 4: Generate the CLP label
You go to our CLP Label Generator, select the fragrance and concentration, enter the data - you get a ready-made label with correct pictograms, statements and substances.
Step 5 (optional): PCN notification
If your candle requires UFI and PCN (because it exceeds the classification threshold) - you contact Chemtra with the SDS from TopWosk. The notification costs 125 PLN and takes 1-2 business days.
5. Who is it for?
A hobbyist who is starting to sell
You've made your first candles for friends, now you want to sell them on Allegro. You have no idea about CLP or chemistry. With TopWosk, you get ready documentation - you don't have to look for a chemist, you don't have to understand thresholds. You download the file, fill in the data, sell.
Small company with 10-30 fragrances
You run a company, you have several fragrances, you sell on your website and Allegro. Commissioning classification for 20 fragrances is 4,000 - 10,000 PLN and weeks of waiting. With TopWosk: 0 PLN and immediate. When changing the recipe (new concentration, new fragrance) - you download a new SDS, you don't commission a new classification.
B2B manufacturer supplying to stores
You sell candles to boutiques, flower shops, hotels. Recipients require Safety Data Sheets. With TopWosk, you have them ready - a professional 16-section document that you can deliver with the first delivery.
6. Frequently asked questions
"Is the SDS from TopWosk legally valid?" - Yes. It is a full-fledged Safety Data Sheet in the format required by Regulation (EU) 2020/878. The only thing you need to change is the supplier's data in section 1 - because you are the candle supplier, not TopWosk.
"What if I use a different concentration than 6/8/10%?" - SDS for 6%, 8% and 10% cover the most common scenarios. If you need a different concentration - the classification threshold is still provided, so you know if your concentration is below or above the threshold. For a non-standard concentration, you can commission classification from Chemtra or another chemist - but in most cases, 6/8/10% will suffice.
"Can I use these SDS if I have a different wax than soy?" - Our SDS are prepared for soy wax (CAS 8016-70-4), which is not classified as hazardous. If your wax is also not classified (most waxes are not) - the SDS will be correct. If you use a wax with classification - contact us, we will explain.
"Does adding a dye change the classification?" - Usually not, unless the dye is classified as hazardous (check section 2 of the dye SDS). If the dye is unclassified - the candle SDS remains unchanged.
"Does this also apply to wax melts and diffusers?" - Our SDS apply to soy candles. Wax melts are a different category - the composition is similar (wax + oil), but the application is different. Diffusers are yet another product. We are working on expanding our offer - subscribe to our newsletter.
Summary
The TopWosk Safety Package is not an additional product - it's something you get with the price of every essential oil. Ready SDS in three concentrations, classification thresholds, CLP Label Generator, and access to the cheapest PCN pathway on the market.
The result: instead of spending thousands of zlotys and weeks on a chemist, you download a file, fill in the data, and sell. And the time you save on paperwork, you can dedicate to what you love most - creating candles.
