Wooden wicks

A wooden candle wick makes a characteristic crackling sound when burning, imitating the sound of wood burning in a fireplace. This makes it particularly suitable for larger candles, which are designed to create the right atmosphere and evoke the feeling of being in front of a traditional fireplace.

Wicks with a metal ferrule will provide better wick stability during burning and ensure even wax burning. The wooden wicks for candles in our store are smokeless, non-toxic, and burn without odor. They also have FSC 100% certification. They are suitable for candles poured into containers, as well as freestanding candles cast in molds.

How to handle a wooden wick? First and foremost, remember that if you want to shorten it, use a sharp tool such as scissors or a knife. Under no circumstances should you break a wooden candle wick. Why? Because this will damage its structure, which will disrupt the burning process.

To ensure optimal burning conditions for the wick, trim it after each use. Wait for the wax to cool and, before lighting the candle again, shorten the protruding wick by approximately 1-2 mm. Keep in mind that this is not always necessary – it's good if about 5 mm of the wooden wick protrudes from the wax.

It's also important to take proper care of your candles. Therefore, remember to remove any remaining wick from the wax after each burning. This will reduce the risk of sooting. Importantly, a wooden wick should be extinguished gently. Don't blow out the flame violently, but cut off the air supply to the flame by covering it, for example, with a nut.

Remember, the better you take care of your candle, the longer it will last!
